rehabilitation, acupuncture, medical boarding, and athletic conditioning and strengthening. A complimentary shuttle
service links the hospitals and allows patients to be transported within the network for further evaluation and treatment.
History
For more than two decades, Red Bank Veterinary Hospital was a one-doctor practice located in an 800 sq. ft. building
at 37 Newman Springs Road in Shrewsbury, NJ. In 1986, it was purchased by Thomas S. Trotter, VMD and Anthony J.
DeCarlo, VMD. With a commitment to 24-hour emergency service, quality medicine, and customer service, the
hospital achieved tremendous growth as a general medicine and specialty practice. This success required the
purchase and complete remodeling of a larger 10,000 sq. ft. facility at 210 Newman Springs Road, Red Bank, NJ, which
opened in 1990.
To continue offering the most state-of-the art medicine, additional renovations were made in 1998. This included the
installation of a linear accelerator, used to provide radiation therapy to cancer patients, and the expansion of the
operating room to a three-suite modern surgical area.
In July 2003, RBVH expanded its regional services to Linwood, NJ, with the grand opening of South Jersey Veterinary
Emergency Service, a 24-hour emergency hospital designed to assist veterinarians and pet owners living in southern
New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
In December 2004, RBVH moved into a custom-built 58,000 square foot hospital at 197 Hance Avenue, Tinton Falls, NJ.
Thanks to a loyal, educated clientele who had come to expect the highest quality veterinary care and customer service,
the hospital needed a facility to accommodate its rapidly growing services. As a result, RBVH has become the
country's largest privately owned veterinary hospital with a 24-hour emergency and critical care facility, referral practice,
general practice and house call service that employs more than 70 veterinarians. This includes full-time specialists in
avian & exotics, behavior, cardiology, clinical nutrition, critical care, dentistry & oral surgery, dermatology & allergy,
internal medicine, neurology & neurosurgery, oncology (medical & radiation), ophthalmology, physical rehabilitation,
and surgery (orthopedic & soft tissue).
The Wyatt Goldthwaite Veterinary Blood Bank began in 2007 thanks to a generous donation made by the Goldthwaite
family in memory of their beloved dog, Wyatt. It was the family's hope that a dedicated blood bank would enable the
staff to continue providing advanced care to critically ill patients and ensure that veterinary blood products would be
readily available to all patients being treated by the local veterinary community.
In 2008, Red Bank Veterinary Hospital expanded with locations in Hillsborough and Cherry Hill. Both
RBVH Hillsborough
and RBVH Cherry Hill are 24-hour emergency, critical care and referral services with loyal
general practice followings. At this time, South Jersey Veterinary Emergency Service changed its name to RBVH Linwood.
During this time, the RBVH Veterinary Healthcare Network was developed to encompass all of the hospitals within the
Red Bank Veterinary Hospital family. Our hope is to provide referring veterinarians and clients more options when
accessing specialty care throughout New Jersey, while giving them confidence that they are receiving the same RBVH
standard of care.
The RBVH Veterinary Healthcare Network remains committed to offering the most advanced veterinary medical
diagnostics and treatment in an atmosphere of caring and compassion. Quality patient care and client satisfaction are
top priorities, and every decision is based on what is in the best interest of the patient.
Thank you for your interest in RBVH. We appreciate the opportunity to care for your pet.
